About Friends of Pack 2 Downingtown

Friends of Pack 2 Downingtown (EIN: 41-4658907) is an independent 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity dedicated to supporting youth development, outdoor education, and community scouting activities in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

Our Mission & Impact

Our primary mission is to provide financial support, equipment, leadership training opportunities, and program enhancements for Cub Scout Pack 2 Downingtown. Through individual contributions, workplace giving, and corporate partnerships, we help ensure every scout has access to transformative camping, STEM, and civic programs regardless of financial background.

Contributions to Friends of Pack 2 Downingtown are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Financial Stewardship & Accountability

Friends of Pack 2 Downingtown is committed to responsible financial management, transparency, and accountability in the use of charitable contributions.

As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Friends of Pack 2 maintains financial accounts separate from Cub Scout Pack 2 Downingtown. Our volunteer Board of Directors oversees the organization's financial activities in accordance with the financial controls established in our bylaws.

Our bylaws establish the following financial safeguards:

Financial Oversight: The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts quarterly, and reporting on the organization's finances at each Board meeting.
Responsible Spending: Expenditures are governed by established approval requirements based on the amount spent. All expenditures must be supported by receipts, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.
Annual Financial Review: The Board is required to arrange an annual review or reconciliation of the organization's financial records, conducted by a Board member other than the Treasurer.
Financial Transparency: The Treasurer prepares an annual financial summary detailing total income, expenses by category, and the ending account balance. This summary is shared with Pack 2 families within 60 days after the close of the fiscal year.

These safeguards are designed to promote responsible stewardship of charitable contributions and ensure that funds are managed in support of Scouting activities, equipment, supplies, and opportunities benefiting the youth of Cub Scout Pack 2 Downingtown.
